Camera & Microphone Troubleshooting

Having trouble recording video messages? Follow these steps to enable camera and microphone access on your device.

Quick Fix

Most camera issues are caused by missing permissions. You need to grant access in both your browser AND your operating system settings. Check both sections below for your setup.

macOS

System Settings (Required)

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS)
  2. Go to Privacy & Security
  3. Click Camera in the sidebar
  4. Find your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and toggle it ON
  5. Go back and click Microphone
  6. Find your browser and toggle it ON
  7. Restart your browser after changing these settings

Tip: If your browser isn't listed, it may appear after you first attempt to use the camera. Try clicking "Enable Camera" on Everlasting Email, then check the settings again.

Windows

Windows Settings (Required)

  1. Open Settings (Windows key + I)
  2. Go to Privacy & securityCamera
  3. Ensure Camera access is turned ON
  4. Ensure Let apps access your camera is turned ON
  5. Ensure Let desktop apps access your camera is turned ON
  6. Go back and repeat for Microphone
  7. Restart your browser after changing these settings

Google Chrome

Site Permissions

  1. Click the lock or tune icon in the address bar (left of the URL)
  2. Find Camera and set it to Allow
  3. Find Microphone and set it to Allow
  4. Refresh the page

If permissions are blocked globally:

  1. Go to chrome://settings/content/camera
  2. Ensure "Sites can ask to use your camera" is selected
  3. Remove everlasting.email from the "Not allowed" list if present
  4. Repeat for microphone at chrome://settings/content/microphone

Safari (macOS)

Site Permissions

  1. Go to Safari menu → Settings (or Preferences)
  2. Click the Websites tab
  3. Select Camera in the left sidebar
  4. Find everlasting.email and set it to Allow
  5. Select Microphone in the left sidebar
  6. Find everlasting.email and set it to Allow
  7. Refresh the page

Firefox

Site Permissions

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Click Connection secureMore information
  3. Go to the Permissions tab
  4. Find Use the Camera and select Allow
  5. Find Use the Microphone and select Allow
  6. Refresh the page

Mobile Devices

iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. Go to SettingsSafari
  2. Scroll to Settings for Websites
  3. Tap Camera and select Allow
  4. Tap Microphone and select Allow

Android (Chrome)

  1. Go to SettingsAppsChrome
  2. Tap Permissions
  3. Enable Camera and Microphone

Still having issues?

  • Restart your browser completely (quit and reopen)
  • Check if another app is using your camera (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Try a different browser to isolate the issue
  • Restart your computer if permission changes don't take effect
